Joshua Korthouse

Joshua knows the profound impact donation can have on a grieving family.  For nearly a decade he worked as a Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Units at Avera McKennan Hospital and Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, helping support families who’s loved one had died.

“There was this intense sadness and shock as the physician would tell them that there was nothing more they could do for their loved one,” shares Joshua.  “It was a tragic time when families often felt a loss of control, and profound sadness.”

“I’d see them go into a room and talk with someone from LifeSource about donation.  It was incredible to see the transformation when they were done speaking with the staff from LifeSource.  There was a look of relief on their faces, almost as though a weight had been lifted.  When there was an opportunity to help others through donation, they once again found hope, and regained a sense of control.  Those families often shared that they felt great pride that their loved one’s life story would continue.”

These experiences helped bring Joshua to LifeSource, first as a Donation Coordinator working the Sioux Falls office and now as a Procurement Manager in the Twin Cities.

Joshua’s connection to the mission has only grown stronger during his tenure at LifeSource.  “Donation is about creating something good in the world.  Donation saves lives and can be such a gift to grieving families.  It feels good to be part of something so life changing for so many people in our community.”
