The Check the Box campaign features real people from our communities who are personally impacted by donation and transplantation, as well as supporters who believe that registering to be a donor is important. Donation begins with a conversation, and we aim to spark lifesaving conversations about donation and transplantation and share the message that anyone can register as a donor – a decision that saves and heals lives.
Everyone has a personal story. We are all born with a unique identity and a desire to live, explore and connect. Sometimes focused on our differences, we are often united by our humanity. We seek love, face challenges, and find comfort in the little things. Resilient in our own fragility, we find inspiration in the small moments of joy and the generosity of others.
In a world of unique stories and complex narratives, we rarely take a moment to acknowledge what we all cherish more than anything else – the gift of life. Life has different meaning for different people, but we all search for strength in our struggles and support in our success. When faced with the choice to help another, we run through our checklist of values, beliefs, and qualifications to determine our decision. It’s the decisions we make on a daily basis that shape our lives and have the potential to save others’, but we are often unaware of how quickly and easily we can make a difference.
Our campaign participants have backgrounds and experiences that illustrate anyone can register as an organ, eye and tissue donor and we hope our community members see themselves reflected in this campaign. And while 70% of participants have been personally impacted by donation, a personal connection to donation is not a requirement to register – many people in our community register as a donor simply because they believe it’s the right choice.
Donate Life Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota are state-based donor registry websites managed by LifeSource, a non-profit organization dedicated to saving lives through organ, eye, and tissue donation in the Upper Midwest.
LifeSource serves the 7 million people who live in communities across Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and portions of western Wisconsin. We are dedicated to working with our hospital and community partners to support donor families, manage the donation process and educate our communities to create a culture of donation. It’s our mission to save lives and offer hope and healing through excellence in organ, eye, and tissue donation.
