What it means to register as a donor

Registering to be an organ and tissue donor is an incredible gift!  It means that you are agreeing to donate your organs, tissues and eyes to people in need when your life is over.

Registering to be an organ and tissue donor means:

  • You have agreed to have all of your organs, tissues and eyes made available for transplant at the time of your death.
  • Your family will be informed of your decision to save lives through donation at the time of your death, and will be asked to provide information about your social and medical history.

Becoming a donor means:

  • The opportunity to save lives and heal up to 60 lives.
  • Your family will receive support from LifeSource at the time of donation and in the months and years following your death.

If you haven’t documented a decision about donation and have the opportunity to save lives through donation at the time of your death, LifeSource will ask your family to make a decision on your behalf.  Therefore, it is extremely important that you discuss your wishes with your family.

Every one of us has the right to make an informed decision about donation.  Please check out our frequently asked questions if you need more information, and don’t hesitate to give us a call at 1.888.5.DONATE if you still have questions.
