Tasha, RN

Meet Tasha.  She is a Registered Nurse at Rapid City Regional Hospital.  She has been with the hospital for eleven years and is the Assistant Director of Clinical Coordination and Staffing.

Tasha is one of the nurses at Rapid City Regional Hospital who is proudly sharing her commitment to donation with her community as part of a new campaign called Donate Life Black Hills.  The campaign is a partnership between the hospital and LifeSource to increase the number of registered organ and tissue donors in the Black Hills.

Why did you register to be an organ and tissue donor?

“I feel it is the right thing to do for all the right reasons. The gift of donation helps to both save lives and greatly improve the quality of life for others. Sometimes I take for granted being able to see my children grow and experience life. There are many people struggling with the idea of never being able to do just that. I also think about the simple things of seeing the color of the sky or feeling a nurturing touch. Those are all things that are lost with a life, but can be saved with donation.”

Why do you believe it is important for others to register as organ and tissue donors?

“Registration can speak for you in a moment of medical crisis. It is just as important to share your decision with your loved ones. There is nothing more difficult than seeing a family struggle with not knowing what to do in that moment. There is a level of comfort when they know for sure what you decided.”
